Greenhills inducts newest honorees for Cum Laude Society
Students, faculty, and parents gathered in the Campbell Center this month to honor the newest members of the Greenhills chapter of the Cum Laude Society.
Greenhills has supported a chapter of the society, which is dedicated to honoring scholastic achievement in secondary schools, since 1981. The organization was founded in 1906 and has nearly 400 chapters in public and independent schools around the world.
This year’s guest speaker was Jake Izenberg ’04, who earned a bachelor’s degree in history at Brown and an MD at Yale.
Established at the Tome School in Maryland, the Cum Laude Society emulates Phi Beta Kappa at the high school level. Only schools with a demonstrated commitment to scholarship are granted charters. The Greenhills chapter, like other chapters, is allowed to induct up to 20 percent of a class by the end of that class’ graduation year. The first 10 percent of students may be inducted during their junior years.
This year’s new members, from the senior class, include:
- Nina Joss
- Kelsey Mussio
- Cameron Perrin
- David Rubin
- Phoebe Sotiroff
- Melanie Stewart
- Ana Taylor
- Andy Xie
New members from the junior class include:
- Ben Carson
- Bonnie Liu

- Charlotte Pratt
