8th grader wins geography bee — for third straight year
Brady Noble knows his way around the globe.
The Greenhills eighth-grader won the middle school’s National Geographic Bee for the third straight year earlier this week, qualifying for further competition that could result in a $50,000 college scholarship.
This week’s bee was only the first round in the competition, which ends in a televised national competition in Washington, D.C. in May. School champions like Brady take a qualifying test, with up to 100 of the top scorers in each state eligible to compete in the state bee in March. Winners of those contests qualify for an all-expenses trip to Washington for the national bee.
In addition to the scholarship, the national champion also wins a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society and a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
