‘Water on Mars’ Scientist Renno This Year’s Visiting Scientist

'Water on Mars' Scientist Renno This Year's Visiting ScientistGreenhills is excited to announce that this year’s Visiting Scientist is Nilton Renno, the lead investigator of the Phoenix Mars Lander mission teams that discovered water on Mars. Renno will present at an all-school assembly Friday, Feb. 11.

Currently a professor of Atmospheric, Ocean and Space Sciences at U-M, Reno led the “Planetary Boundary Layer” and “Water Cycle” Mars exploratory teams in 2008-09.

“Discovering water on Mars was a huge discovery, due in large part to Renno’s tenacity,” says Greenhills physics teacher and Visiting Scientist coordinator Deano Smith. “We’re obviously thrilled to have him come share his first-hand discoveries and insights.”

During his time at Greenhills, Renno will also visit science classes and hold a Q & A session with science club members.
