U-M aerospace scientist Gallimore visits 6th grade classes
Sixth graders were paid a visit today by U-M Professor Alec Gallimore, associate dean for research and graduate educationĀ in the College of Engineering.
Speaking to Bridget Maldonado’s science classes, Gallimore discussed how he uses plasma to design thrusters for spacecraft.
“It was great having Dr. Gallimore in class today,” says Maldonado. “One of the things he showed students was how he continually incorporates new findings into his research, which is a concept that we focus on in the middle school curriculum. It was also nice for the kids to have the opportunity to interact with a real scientist. It takes away the intimidation factor.”
