T-Wall/B-Ball spreads joy at Greenhills for 22nd straight year
Greenhills students and faculty shared their joie de vivre with hundreds of students with special needs, all of whom returned the favor, during the school’s 22nd annual T-Wall/B-Ball festivities. This year almost 300 students from other schools in Washtenaw County turned out for the event. Greenhills students buddied up with their visitors, making sure each had an opportunity to enjoy activity stations set up around the school for the dinosaur-themed event.
Reinforcing that theme: science teachers Deano Smith (aka Deanosaur) and Jim Lupton (aka d-Rex), dressed in green dinosaur suits.

Students were able to play games in the dining room, disco away the day in the dance studio, have their pictures taken at a photo station, and pet the ducks, sheep, rabbits, and other animals in a miniature petting zoo set up outside the athletic entrance.
And, as always, there were cakewalks in the forums, participation in live music performances, custom-made balloon animals, face-painting, and – of course – the event’s namesake b-ball in the gyms.
New this year was a magician, who wowed students from Greenhills and the other schools with feats of prestidigitation. There were even some live white birds involved.
Student heads this year were Nikita Bazaj and Sarah Angold-Stephens. More than 65 Greenhills students volunteered their time in putting the event together.
“This event is a highlight for many of our students,” said Greenhills’ Service Learning Director Alyssa Friendly. “We’re privileged to serve the community in this way.”
