Students bring fresh energy to new year
Greenhills students, parents, faculty, and staff combined efforts Tuesday to ensure that the first day of school for the 2014-15 academic year went off without a hitch.
The parking lot was bustling at 7:30 a.m., but by just after 8 students had gathered for an assembly in Campbell Center.
Meanwhile, some of their parents, including the parents of sixth-graders who are new to Greenhills, gathered near the main entrance in the All-School Forum to enjoy coffee and pastries and talk about the Greenhills experience with families whose students have been attending for the past few years.
Later, students gathered for grade level meetings in their individual forums or elsewhere to outline goals and expectations for the coming year. Throughout the school, the bustle and energy of the returning students helped energize teachers and staffers, as well.
The family coffees will continue all week, including a special gathering, set for 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, for “first generation” families who are totally new to the independent school experience.
Welcome back, Greenhills!
