Soccer, volleyball, cross country drive huge sports weekend
It was another huge weekend for Greenhills sports Oct. 17-18, as boys soccer advanced to the regional semifinals, volleyball got ready for districts, girls cross country placed second in the MIAC, and boys cross country ended the conference season as MIAC champs.
The soccer team followed up its resounding 8-0 victory over Lenawee Christian by playing Plymouth Christian in the regional semifinals. Although the Gryphons led for most of the game, they ultimately lost 2-1 after two overtime periods and a shootout.
Volleyball, meanwhile, continues Nov. 2 against Lutheran Westland at Whitmore Lake, while the cross country teams travel to Lake Erie Metropark Saturday, Oct. 31 for regionals.
Members of the cross country team earned individual honors in addition to their strong showing in the MIAC.
