Senior Ashwin Fujii honored at Scholar-Athlete ceremony
On Saturday, March 23, senior Ashwin Fujii was officially recognized as an MHSAA Scholar-Athlete. A standout in cross country, swimming and track, Fujii was honored along with 31 other elite student-athletes in the state at a ceremony held during half-time of the Class C boys’ championship game at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.
“I am honored to be considered one of the top scholar-athletes in the state,” says Fujii (pictured at right in the center). “I was proud to be among some exceptional student-athletes in a great environment at the ceremony Saturday evening. This award is truly a reflection of how well Greenhills athletics fosters success both on the field and in the classroom.”
According to MHSAA, approximately 1,700 students submitted applications for the award, which includes a $1,000 college scholarship.
Fujii is the son of Yuji Fujii and Yuni Dewaraja of Ann Arbor. He plans to study engineering at the University of Michigan next fall.
