Katherine Selwa ’12 Wins Medical Research Essay Contest
Katherine Selwa ’12 has been chosen as the first place winner in the Michigan Society for Medical Research (MISMR) high school essay competition.
Selwa’s essay, titled “Of Mice and Men,” was selected from more than 300 entries submitted from across the state.
“Katherine’s essay…on the topic The Benefits and Process of Biomedical Research was organized, creative and covered the topic well. She cleary researched this paper, giving her a good understanding of the issues involved,” said Rebecca Ellish-Stengle, executive director of MISMR, in her award notification letter.
As the first place winner Selwa will be presented with a plaque, certificate and $500 check at the 2011 Michigan Society for Medical Research Annual Meeting and Educational Symposium on Wednesday, April 20 in East Lansing.
