Hoops season starts Tuesday with a Whiteout
There are just a couple of things Greenhills athletic captains would like spectators to remember before Tuesday’s big basketball doubleheader, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
First, it’s a Whiteout, so, you know, wear white. Second? Yes, that’s right: wear white.
Greenhills’ team captains could think of no better time to begin creating the school’s Battle of the Fans video than Tuesday, when both the boys and girls hoops teams tip off against Macomb Christian in matches that really get the home season rolling.
It’s the third year for the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s BOTF contest, which seeks video of the state’s best student cheering sections. Student videographers will be on hand to capture the action, and will submit their evidence in the form of a three-minute YouTube video to MHSAA. But it’s not just rabid cheering the judges are after: an example of the kind of positive fan support they’re looking for is here.
The varsity boys game starts at 5:30, followed by the girls varsity at 7:30. Both have played at least one game so far, although Tuesday’s contest is the boys’ home opener.
So dig out that old Saturday Night Fever leisure suit, and join the fun.
