Greenhills senior earns National Merit Scholarship
Congratulations to Greenhills senior Monica Choi, who was named a National Merit Scholar by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation this month.
Choi, of Ann Arbor, was one of only 14 Washtenaw County seniors who earned the scholarships, which are funded directly by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. About 15,000 students nationwide were finalists for the awards this year and 2,500 earned the $2,500 awards.
Winners were chosen by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors based on academic record, scores from standardized tests, leadership in school and community, an essay, and a personal recommendation.
More awardees will be named later this spring.
