French Students Have Memorable Time in Quebec

Last month 30 middle schoolers, two teachers (Elizabeth Collins and Cat Novak), Marion Bonneaux ’11 and one parent spent five days exploring Quebec City and Montreal in Quebec, Canada.

Highlights of the Quebec City trip included getting soaked at the Montgomery Falls, visiting an authentic Huron village, walking along the narrowest street in North America, and playing around the famous Château Frontenac in front of the Saint-Lawrence River.

In Montreal, the group had fun trekking to the top of the 1976 Olympic Stadium tower, walking through the impressive Cathedral Notre-Dame, and experiencing a special restaurant with historical animation and games, where they not only ate a typical lumberjack meal, but also learned about maple syrup making and danced.

“As a way to really explore each city, we sent the kids on multiple scavenger hunts,” says French teacher Cat Novak, “which we have found is a great way to create the best memories.”

Novak says the next Quebec trip will be in June 2014 with the Classes of 2017 & 2018.
