ACTivate the Cure brings in cash to fight cancer

Greenhills’ student-organized ACTivate the Cure variety and art show, held recently in the Campbell Center for the Performing Arts, raised about $3,300 to benefit the University of Michigan’s Breast Cancer Research Center.

But money wasn’t the only thing raised. So were the spirits of those in attendance as student and faculty musical and comedy acts dotted the stage.

Among the performances were classical and popular music, stand-up comedy, and dramatic readings. Thirty-five people performed onstage while another 50 contributed behind-the-scenes talents or donations of artwork to the student art show. Source materials ranged from Anton Chekhov to Jimi Hendrix.

Gabe Linderman ’16, who facilitated the art show along with art teacher Rob Kinnaird, said the art sales portion of the show alone raised about $600 toward the cause.

The show was produced by Ian Harris ’16 and Jack Harris ’18. The stage manager was Annika Morrison ’16, the sound board was operated by Ben Pelofsky ’18, and the crew included Eric Bartell ’16, Molly Rose-Powers ’16, and Alec Bayoneto ’18.
