A Sweet Success
The annual Chocolate Lounge jazz and improv show, held February 11 in the Greenhills dining room, grossed more than $3,000 in support of Greenhills’ Heitman Memorial Endowment.
The event, organized each year by the junior class, celebrates the spirit and legacy of Krystal Heitman, a Greenhills staff member who fought breast cancer for five years before passing away in 2006. The endowment was established to continue her longtime efforts to make sure that no Greenhills student was left unable to participate in a school activity because of a lack of funds.
Organizers added a few innovations this year to the traditional chocolate treats and improv and jazz performances by Greenhills students. A caricaturist was on hand to help people memorialize the evening, for example, and other artwork was for sale in the corridor off the dining room. Several raffles also took place.
The innovations—and the organizers’ hard work—paid off. The event drew one of its largest crowds, and the proceeds are destined to benefit many Greenhills students.
