THE GREENHILLS SERVICE
LEARNING PROGRAM
interweaves social justice, education, leadership skills, local and global activism, and mentoring.

Greenhills creates opportunities for the entire student body to come together and give back to our surrounding communities throughout the year.

The Middle School program embraces a grade-level thematic approach to service learning and academics, thoughtfully introducing students to civic responsibility. Students in the Upper School are encouraged to give back through individual projects and to contribute as leaders during school-wide activities.

OVER THE YEARS, THE PROGRAM HAS GROWN
to include more opportunities for the entire Greenhills community to work together locally

Events such as Motor City Saturdays and Family Service Night offer a chance for students, faculty and parents to work together to make a difference.

Service Learning En EspaƱol

We use immersion in our modern language classes, and what better way to immerse students in language than to volunteer with native Spanish speakers at schools in Ypsilanti and Detroit?

T-Wall/B-Ball

T-Wall/B-Ball, an annual event, welcomes more than 400 special needs students for a day of fun at Greenhills. It's entirely organized each year by a group of about 40 students.

Motor City Saturdays

Students and faculty organize periodic Saturday trips to sites around Detroit, where Greenhills volunteers help with neighborhood cleanup, urban farming, and more.

All School Service Day

All School Service Day is an annual event in which the entire school participates in a day of service at various organizations across Washtenaw and Wayne Counties.
